What is our department?
RESEARCH DEPARTMENT of “GENETICS RESOURCES CYTOGENETICS AND MOLECULARE ANALYSIS” (10.12.2008) is an organization established in the Banat University of Agricultural Sciences (USAMVB) involved in education and research activities. The main objective consist in establish an advanced education and science (E&S).
Our goals are involved in order to strengthen science, technology, and innovation in the Central and Western Romania. Our programs are designed to accomplish this mission by:
- providing a setting where students, master and doctoral students and researchers from Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture and Environment Sciences can overcome their “personal knowledge” and pool their resources, and knowledge for a new Era of Sciences;
- helping high school scholars and practitioners from the West part of Romania to be in touch with their partners from European Union, North America, Japan, and other nations share their expertise with other colleagues and students;
- disseminating the most advanced ideas and methods in sciences, biodiversity and landraces protection, biotechnology and innovation throughout the researchers and small groups of interest people;
- developing high quality training programs in teaching, sciences and technology and innovation at the early and mid-career level and, ultimately at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels;
- preparing the next generation of leaders in natural resources, genetics and biotechnology and innovation in Romania at the level of the CEE countries.
The research subjects:
Previously 21 Millennium: was anchored in collecting, evaluating and using the landraces from the West part of Romania (from 1961); using nanomaterials/nanoparticles in biotechnology (from 1989), screening abiotic and biotic tolerant genotypes (1991).
The results in these directions are:
- more than 400 research papers; more than 200 Diploma Thesis 12 Master Thesis; 15 Ph.D. Thesis.
Post 2001: in this period our scientific aims are: to develope the nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, to establish the molecular mechanisms involved in abiotic and biotic stress; to point out the best donor genotypes, to develop future high elevated leaders in science, technology, and innovation for our and the UE countries.
2 Ph.D. students are improving their ability in different European Countries. The results in these directions are: establish the molecular differences among different landraces.
1 Ms student from Geek is working in our lab in molecular wheat analysis.
We are in close relation with different Universities, Professors and Researchers from Hungary (3), Serbia-Montenegro (2), Bulgaria (1), the Moldova Republic (4), Slovenia (1), the Slovak Republic (2), Portugal (1) and other nations as well as USA (3), Japan (1), India (1), South Africa (1), Australia (1).
The DEPARTMENT conducts its activities in Romanian and English. |
